Type 4 Life

Type-4 life is a name for organic life. It tends to reproduce itself, (human males and others excepted) and depend on ego or self-interest to be in existence. A water glass is a form of type-5 life and you will notice that it is neither squishy nor egotistical. It depends on others for its reproduction. If you have an attractive glass, friends will ask about it and ask for it at the shops in town. This demand, external to the glass itself, is what causes the glass to be reproduced, not any self-aggrandizement.

Another descriptive division of life is animate or inanimate. A water glass in an inanimate form of type-5 life where an android would be an animate form of type-5 life.

Note that type-4 life is closer to the factors being discused by classical thermodynamics, such as concentration of ions in a liquid or percentage of oxygen in a gas or temperature. Temperature or atmosphere is more important to a human than a Mars rover. This is one indication to you that the Mars rover is type-5, non-squishy life which tends to depend less on its gas or liquid environment except for transportation.

What do you think?
